Movie Research: "Megan is Missing"

Image
After meeting someone she had been corresponding with online, a teenager vanishes inexplicably without leaving any trace.  Michael Goi's controversial found footage horror film "Megan Is Missing" The film makes use of several media tropes to produce a stressful and unsettling visual experience.  What conventions of the Genre that you choose to base your final task on does this movie have? A convention I really enjoyed in this movie is the found footage style presenting the plot as though it had been recovered from video records, the movie uses a found footage style. The events feel more ominous and powerful because of this style's increased realism and intensity. The look of the film is more documentary-like because of the usage of webcam footage and handheld cameras. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked? Movie Research: Terrifier!

Image
"Terrifier" is a low-budget horror movie starring Art the Clown and directed by Damien Leone. When it was released in 2016, many took notice of its violent and explicit content.  What conventions of the Genre that you choose to base your final task on does this movie have? - The conventions used in this particular film, which I hope to base my Final task on, are ones that I, fortunately, have a lot of references to.  Low Budget Aesthetics: "Terrifier" had a comparatively modest budget during production, which is evident in the way it looks. The use of realistic effects and straightforward settings in the production might help to create a harsh, unpolished visual aesthetic. Genre Tropes: "Terrifier" is a horror movie, therefore it probably uses a lot of genre tropes. Some of these include tense pacing, eerie photography, and an emphasis on creating tension. Slasher Film Elements: "Terrifier" belongs to the horror subgenre known as slashers, in w

Moving to a new house can be challenging. Especially when it's in the middle of nowhere, and most likely cursed. A movie based on a true story about a haunted house, a demon possession, and an exorcism.  What conventions of the Genre that you choose to base your final task on does this movie have?  Dark settings with history :  The house used to provide the background, to explain the reason for the curse, is located in the Woodlands, which is a popular place for a house to be located to add a mystery vibe.  Jump scare :  With many sudden appearances and jumps at the main protagonists, it startles the audience every time. Mixed in the slow coming of eerie music and off sounds, leading to a bit of quietness and then the scare. Psychological horror :  As in the part where the little girl who is sleeping gets dragged off the bed by something pulling her feet, even though there's nothing there. And then tells her sister who gets up to check that there's something behind her th

My Groups Genre Decision!

Image
Making a choice was difficult after extensive research and deliberation on the various genres we may utilize for our opening sequence. After careful consideration, my groupmate and I have decided to utilize the genre "Horror-Thriller." This is what we want to do because it completely aligns with the topic of our pitch. The potential to appeal to universal concerns and base fears was one of the main reasons for choosing the horror genre. The horror genre possesses an exceptional ability to strike a deep psychological chord with viewers, evoking sincere and instantaneous reactions. I chose horror because I wanted to take viewers to a place where the unknown, the uncanny, and the unsettling are the norm and encourage them to face their worst fears.

Our Pitch Discussion!

Pitch A:   A housekeeper who cleans large houses for a living receives a call with specific instructions. Curious, she unlocks the closet and discovers a shrine, of herself. Pitch B: A girl is streaming a challenge, nothing happens, she's called down, but she hears something in her closet, she approaches then screams being pulled in. Pitch A discussion:  After receiving a phone referral, a middle-aged housekeeper who specializes in cleaning mansions is assigned to take care of the other woman's home. She is then given detailed instructions on what has to be cleaned and what shouldn't be cleaned. The housekeeper is turned off by the omniscient energy as soon as she gets to the residence. The housekeeper can spy since the other woman isn't home, and when she does, she finds an attic-like room with a shrine containing disturbingly real pictures of herself. My Group Blog For My Final Task!

Image
Hello blog viewers! I'm lucky enough to be working on this opening scene with a partner this time! Her name is Monica and she is also an AICE Media Studies student with me! I simply just walked up to her and said, "Hey, do you want to work with me to create a rockin' video?" Her response was immediate yes. I think this because I believe we both wanted partners to work with because last time we, unfortunately, had to work alone and things got very hectic. Another reason why I want to with Monica is because she is present in class and dedicated to perfecting her work ethic. The reason for both of us falling behind on the last project was that we did not have a solid plan. A plan for creating something big and worth a lot of points is extremely crucial. In addition, the idea of working with Monica to create something significant gives the endeavor a degree of personal fulfillment. We have similar goals, values, and expectations regarding the influence of our work. Furthe

My Introduction For My Opening Scene (Final Task)

Image
Hey, it's me again Thandiwe! I look forward to sharing my skills and strategies for creating my opening scene! I'm only seventeen years old and have developed many short-film-style videos, thanks to this media class I'm in. I'd say I'm quite patient and very easy to work with. I'm aware of this project involving other individuals. That alone, I'm a bit nervous about because working with others forces you to put your own ideas aside. This project I'm presuming this will be easy to conquer because I will choose other individuals who have similar end goals as me. I sort of want this music video-themed project to be on trend for the upcoming holiday season. I can imagine it now, a Halloween-themed, horror-type beat. I want the audio and images to be quite scary but not disturbing. A big interest of mine is scary things. Fun fact: I was born in Zimbabwe, which is where my name comes from. Growing up in South Florida has been a wonderful experience, and I can&
