My Reflection!
Now that the process of making a commercial is done, I feel like we need to discuss the final product as a whole. My commercial wound up to be around 48 seconds, which is an accurate play time for a running commercial. Most of the footage and photos provided in my commercial were taken on my 2012 Cannon hand-held camera. The footage was turned into a media link to merge into iMovie. iMovie is a free video editing program iMovie for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Although it offers a variety of video effects and features like color correction and image stabilization, it is made usable by users with little to no previous knowledge of video editing. This was very easy for me to use and figure out how to input my own media. What I struggled with was the sound. Publishing music into my commercial had to be the hardest part because there was a ton of cut-and-paste shenanigans I was not used to. Now that I've done this before, I have a better overview of what challenges I'll face. The editing on this commercial was thankfully done on an iPad, which I luckily had access to, which gave me enough room on the screen to see exactly what I had in front of me. The editing on a laptop in contrast would most likely be more detailed and I would be able to pick apart more details.
The learning experience from putting together this commercial has been somewhat difficult, as expected. Trying to find proper footage that actually fit the mood of the "All About Me" theme was surprisingly hard. I now think things of this nature actually need a ton more planning and brainstorming so when time comes to put everything together, things fall into place easier. Overall the entire process was mostly enjoyable and really nice to see everything fall into place. I will be looking forward to doing more projects like these in the future <3
